Despite common misperceptions, computer science is not only about programming. This course will focus on the why of computational thinking and design organization as a foundational understanding for students to be successful as learners and citizens in our current economy, For this course, teachers will create a series of integrated lesson plans that includes an algorithmic flow that follows CSTA standards (these are the same as the state Computer Science Standards).

This micro-credential requires the use of computer science standards. This micro-credential is best for teachers who teach grades 5th or higher as the computer science concepts covered aren't included until grade 5 in the MT new state standards.

This course does have step-up credit approval. Don't forget to fill out a credit approval request.
