This presentaion will provide an overview of the vaping epidemic and its prevalence in Yellowstone County. Participants will learn about what products are used by teens, the health impacts of nicotine, strategies Big Tobacco uses to market to kids and engage in a Hidden In Plain Sight simulation. This presentation will briefly describe additional substances youth are using including marijuana, kava and kratom and emerging trends. Finally, strategies to support youth through mental health challenges, and identifying behavior that may indicate substance use will be provided. At the conclusion of this training, participants will be able to identify, discuss and intervene youth vaping behaviors while providing resources and strategies to combat mental health challenges and referrals to additional support.
