De-escalation is the primary strategy to help students when they are in crisis. This may look different for every student but there are general strategies that will help even the most escalated student return to calm. This course is for elementary and middle school teachers to learn about the phases of the escalation cycle, how to recognize students in each phase and strategies for supporting students in those phases.
