Factors associated with American Indians strength, pride, health, and wellness research indicated several factors correlated to the academic success and wellness of K-12 American Indian students. Cultural engagement, positive activities, positive role models, positive American Indian role models, positive self-identity, supportive relationship, and welcoming spaces. Participants will explore strategies that will appeal to our diverse students from distinct backgrounds. Rooted in multicultural education, culturally responsive practices aim to link students' ancestral and contemporary cultures and the support systems to classroom teachers' support systems. Using the Essentail Understandings, participants will gain knowledge to build relationships concerning the unique experiences of American Indian students.
