Starting at noon, we will attend Grand Entry in the gym, then thave 2 hours to experience the powwow with a scavenger hunt type of activity to gather some fun facts. Teachers will also receive an information packet about dancers and general information about the Pow Wow. The Pow Wow is put on by students and teachers who will have a chance to interact with and visit. Students who maintain a strong sense of pride in their language and culture tend not to experience school failure. Ideally, school curricula will offer equal recognition of the contributions students' home cultures bring to the learning situation and will help all students develop the self-esteem and self-confidence that can enhance their learning. The Pow Wow offers a cultural experience in which to share with students. The session will officially conclude, back in the small gym at 2:00 with an informal Q & A sharing, after which particpants will be free to go, or stay and enjoy more of the Pow Wow. Bring your friends and family along.
